Desert Rose floral preservation, originally "RootHoney" began 3 years ago when I decided to try something new and started to experiment with different types of epoxy resin. Shortly after, I began to try out floral preservation/drying techniques to see how they would look and hold up preserved in resin, when these experiments started to turn out I realized resin work was something I was skilled in.
When I was young, I had a close family member pass away unexpectedly. I remember all of the funeral arrangements and beautiful flowers that filled our kitchen; I snuck in and took a few handfuls of pedals and pieces of foliage and put some in a large rimmed bowl in the family room for my parents and put the rest in a jar that I kept for myself. Over the years I watched these pieces of dried flowers disintegrate and break down and eventually, there wasn't much left but the memory of the flowers and the wish I could have kept them forever.
My name is Alyssa Kalipetsis, owner and artist at Desert Rose. Recently relocated to Littlefield, Arizona from Salt Lake City, Utah, I now live here in a small desert town with my husband and our rescue pup, Mabel. I am currently medical care giver working in a hospital clinic. I have always had a passion for healthcare and the care of others but also a passion for plants, flowers, and creating meaningful memories and artwork for people to enjoy. Each purchase from my site is directly supporting me and my dreams through supporting my art and growing my small business. Thanks for being here!
